Overview
Ultrasonic testing (UT) uses high-frequency sound waves to measure thickness, detect laminations and voids, and examine welds for internal discontinuities. Cave Inspection offers conventional longitudinal and shear-wave techniques as well as phased-array capabilities.
Modes We Provide
- Longitudinal (0°) — thickness verification, corrosion mapping, detection of laminations and voids perpendicular to the beam
- Shear / angle beam — volumetric weld inspection (commonly 45°, 60°, 70°) for fusion defects, cracks, slag, and related indications

Key Considerations
Surfaces must be clean and free of heavy scale, coating, or debris. Geometry, access, and material thickness influence capability. Our technicians are trained to select the appropriate technique and report clearly so you can make informed integrity decisions.
